  • The book that got me into reading (ultimate comfort trilogy)

The book that got me into reading (ultimate comfort trilogy)

    Author:Alwyn Hamilton

    Genre:Fantasy romance

    Rating:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

    Audience: YA

    ♡♡♡♡

    synopsis:

Mortals rule the desert nation of Miraji, but mythical beasts still roam the wild and remote areas, and rumor has it that somewhere, djinn still perform their magic.  For humans, it’s an unforgiving place, especially if you’re poor, orphaned, or female.

Amani Al’Hiza is all three. She’s a gifted gunslinger with perfect aim, but she can’t shoot her way out of Dustwalk, the back-country town where she’s destined to wind up wed or dead.

Then she meets Jin, a rakish foreigner, in a shooting contest, and sees him as the perfect
escape route. But though she’s spent years dreaming of leaving Dustwalk, she never imagined she’d gallop away on mythical horse—or that it would take a foreign fugitive to show her the heart of the desert she thought she knew.

Rebel of the Sands reveals what happens when a dream deferred explodes—in the fires of rebellion, of romantic passion, and the all-consuming inferno of a girl finally, at long last, embracing her power.

    Review:

Hello book besties! Today, I want to share a trilogy that’s really close to my heart. AKA Traitor to the throne, the book that ignited my passion for reading.Let’s get started💞!

Before picking up this book I wasn’t a productive reader, like I used to read, but not that much. This trilogy is what changed it all.I feel like it’s super underrated and I haven’t seen many people talk about it ever. This is your sign to go read that book now!

Writing:The writing of this book is so well done.Amani, the main character,is the perfect female character one could ask for. She’s strong, smart and feminine in all the right ways.I could relate to her and root for her through the three books. The world building is really amazing,I felt like I was in a movie not just a book.I truly felt like I was in the desert and wanted to go live there😭😭.

Plot:The story is about Amani, a strong and determined girl living in Dustwalk, a desert town. She wanted freedom and to escape from her current situation. And one day she meets the eastern snake (Jin) who helps her escape this town and start her journey. The story is filled with friendships, rebellion , adventures and self discovery. It’s so so beautiful.

Characters & Romance:I actually adored all the characters in this book, even the annoying ones.Everyone was just perfect for their role and their interactions were so seamless that it felt incredibly real. One of my favorite parts of the trilogy is the cutesy romance between Amani and Jin. Their chemistry is perfect! Watching their relationship form was soo cute and Jin quickly became my first and one of my top fav book boyfriends.

After reading this trilogy I was completely hooked! And wanted to read every other book in the same genre or maybe live in this trilogy and become Amani and forget that I was a real human😭.

What’s the book that made you fall in love with reading?let me know!

    Happy reading!

  • Bookish habits that book lovers have|Mariam’s bookcafe

Bookish habits that book lovers have|Mariam’s bookcafe

Hello book besties! In today’s bookish discussion post I’ll talk about some bookish habits that I have and a lot of book lovers also share (assumingly). Please tell me I’m not the only one who does these things😭.Let’s get started💞💞!

    ♡♡♡♡

    Habit #1:

Let’s start off by the first bookish habit which is:Searching for spoilers even though I don’t want them.I don’t consider this really a habit but more of like something I do to torture myself with.Cause I literally get tortured.Like for example when I am reading a certain book and it’s a little bit long,I search for specific stuff that I’m afraid they might happen or curious if they will and then BOOM.A SPOILER.And the thing is I don’t stop reading afterwards.I get so shocked and tortured or even more curious then I read a little more.I recently read a spoiler for the death of the main character of one of the books that I’m currently reading whom I love so much. And it DESTROYED ME.literally.so yeah, this is your sign not to do that.

    Habit #2:

Next bookish habit is reading multiple books at the same time or , like I like to call it , (multireading). When I am in finals or midterms and don’t have much time on my hands, I multiread.I do it in a very weird way.Like right before Ramadan started I was literally in the middle of 2 last books from two different trilogies who are so so far from each other. And a standalone which is also not related to anything.I jumped from an emotion, world, story, characters to a completely new one.I used to find it very productive actually.Which is dumb cause now I find it very overwhelming.

    Habit #3:

Moving on to the third habit which is:searching pinterest for book quotes from the book I’m reading to get more excited.I do this all the time. And not just search for quotes,I search for aesthetics too.I love doing this,I find it to be a part of my reading.Like I cannot read without doing this. It’s so fun.I also get most of my TBR and next reads from pinterest.I basically live on it now. It’s my fav app.

    Habit #4:

Last bookish habit I’ll talk about is smelling my paperbacks. My sister (who is not a book lover) laughs at me whenever I do this and finds it weird, but I don’t.It’s completely normal.Plus, each book has it’s own unique smell. My fav book smell I have though would probably be Traitor To The Throne by Alwyn Hamilton.I wanna make it into perfume and spray it on all my outfits. It’s that good.

    ♡♡♡♡

These were some bookish habits I do.Please let me know in the comments which one do you do or if you do them all like me!Maybe you have different ones?let me know!

    Happy Reading!

  • Do you think reading is political?lBookish discussion

Do you think reading is political?lBookish discussion

Hello book besties!!welcome to episode one of bookish discussions!.It’s a series where we will discuss different book related topics together and chat about them!In today’s episode we’ll be discussing whether reading is political or not and why.Hope u like it,let’s get started💞💞

    ♡♡♡♡

A lot of people still think that reading is merely another hobby, but is it really just that or does it have deeper meaning?I honestly used to think that it was just a hobby too before the boycotting business. And I found it very hard at first since a lot of my top fav authors were on the boycott list, but it got easier over time alhamdulliah. Now,I 100% think it has a deeper meaning and there are a lot of evidence on that like book banning that’s been going on lately as well as boycotting authors who support !sr@3l.But in order to actually be able to tell, first let’s see what the term of political related books mean.

Meaning of political related books:Political related books are the ones which talk about or include political ideas, themes and systems. It’s often included in classical literature (Animal farm by George Orwell) and historical fiction(As Long As The Lemon Trees Grow By Zoulfa Katouh),it can be found in fantasy books(Babel By R.F Kuang) as well.

How can books be political:Now that we know what political related books mean, how can a book be political though?A book can be political through the theme, when it includes historical events. It can be through characters as they may represent political symbols. There’s also Influence, books can influence political action or help people form opinions on it.

Many believe books are not related to anything in life and it’s just another form of entertainment, while it may be true for some books,it’s not for the rest.

Do you think reading is political as I do?or do you have a different point of view on the matter?share with me your thoughts in the comments.

    Happy Reading!

  • Come with me to the 2025 cairo book fair+Haul

Come with me to the 2025 cairo book fair+Haul

Hello book besties!Today I will share with you my trip and findings in the 2025 cairo book fair. The fair started on 23 of January, but people could officially enter on the 24th.

The place was very very crowded (as expected) and It had many people from different countries.

The first place I went to was reader’s corner. It’s one of the online bookstores that I know so I headed there first to check it out and see if they had the books I wanted.

I found two of the books that I was looking for.I only got one of them which was Six of crows, but I then returned it later after I found it cheaper in other two bookstores.(i didn’t buy it again)

Then I headed to Diwan bookstore. There were quite a lot of books that I wanted to get,but it was really expensive and no ,there was no 70% off. That was a complete scam. That’s why I only got one book from them(there’s a haul at the end of the post).

After shopping at diwan I was kinda disappointed and was losing any hope of finding good deals, but I then stumbled upon this bookstore and found another one of the books on my list in a really good price and there was an actual discount.I was really happy alhamdulliah.

I also then stumbled upon this bookstore where I also found another book I wanted and alhamdulliah in a good price too.

And here my shopping trip ended and I was a satisfied girl.

Now it’s time for the book haul.

    Book Haul

    The bookstores I shopped from.

This is my full book haul and my trip to the 2025 cairo book fair.Did you guys go there?if yes what did you buy?

  • Best ways To Track Your Reading in 2025!

Best ways To Track Your Reading in 2025!

Hello book besties!!Today I will share with you 3 ways to track your reading if you are not already.Lets get started💞!

    ♡♡♡♡

This is the easiest and obvious way.I see a lot of people actually use it and I use this method myself. And honestly I love it.It’s really easy and effective.Just create a list of the books you’ve read (or are currently reading) and that’s it!You can add star emojis as the rating next to the book title(or any emoji). You can also include all the books you DNF’d,didn’t like and your top favs.

Book tracking apps are a great option if f you’re a girly who’s looking for something more detailed.Apps like Goodreads let you track your reading progress, connect with other readers. Also set reading goals, discover new books to add to the endless TBR and write your review on books. While I personally don’t use these apps (don’t really like them),I can see how helpful they are.

This is a method I started this year, and it is SO fun and aesthetic! If you have an iPad,you can use the note taking apps to create a digital book journal. You can make reviews, favorite quotes and authors. And many more amazing journal page ideas. It’s such an aesthetic and cute way to keep track of your reading while also writing your thoughts on the books you’ve read. You can also do it in a physical journal,it’ll be just as cool if not more.

    ♡♡♡♡

These were three easy ways to track your reading!which method is your fav?

  • Top 3 places to buy original books in Egypt 2025!

Top 3 places to buy original books in Egypt 2025!

    ♡♡♡♡

first is diwan bookstore. Not only does this bookstore have many of the books you might be looking for,but also Diwan is a household name among Egyptian bibliophiles. It has multiple branches across the country. It offers a diverse selection of books from multiple languages, genres and also bookish gifts. The only problem though is the prices if you wanna buy some books you might break the bank🙈.

    2.Sector 10 bookstore

This is a small online bookstore that I stumbled upon a few days ago when I wanted to buy some books. It sells a couple of different genres like fantasy and romance. It also has some bookish extras for annotating like stickers, markers and a reading light as well. There is also a reading planner. But shares the same downside of being extra expensive even more than Diwan bookstore.

Now for my favorite bookstore in Egypt,Cherryblossom books. It is a small private bookstore owned by a young lady. The bookstore is super cute and cozy.I absolutely love it.She sells mostly fantasy and contemporary romance as well as YA books. Also has her own reading planner and the most adorable bookmarks.I always go to this bookstore to pickup my books and every time I don’t want to go because of it’s coziness and cuteness. And another good thing to it is that she has the best prices. You can buy more than one book and Alhamdulliah you will not break the bank😆.But the only bad thing about it,is that the book shipments she gets sell out almost immediately so you have to be quick.

    ♡♡♡♡

These were my Top bookstores to get original books in Egypt 2025.Hope I helped you find the best place for you to buy books.

    Fourth Wing

    (from the boycott authors)

    synopsis

    Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed
to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and
history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons
mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to
become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders.

    But when
you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is
only a heartbeat away…because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans.
    They incinerate them.

With fewer dragons willing to bond than
cadets, most would kill Violet to better their own chances of success.
The rest would kill her just for being her mother’s daughter—like Xaden
Riorson, the most powerful and ruthless wingleader in the Riders
    Quadrant.

She’ll need every edge her wits can give her just to see the next sunrise.

    Yet,
with every day that passes, the war outside grows more deadly, the
kingdom’s protective wards are failing, and the death toll continues to
rise. Even worse, Violet begins to suspect leadership is hiding a
    terrible secret.

    Powerless

     synopsis

She is the very thing he’s spent his whole life hunting.
He is the very thing she’s spent her whole life pretending to be.

Only the extraordinary belong in the kingdom of Ilya—the exceptional, the empowered, the Elites.

    The
powers these Elites have possessed for decades were graciously gifted
to them by the Plague, though not all were fortunate enough to both
survive the sickness and reap the reward. Those born Ordinary are just
that—ordinary. And when the king decreed that all Ordinaries be banished
in order to preserve his Elite society, lacking an ability suddenly
became a crime—making Paedyn Gray a felon by fate and a thief by
    necessity.

Surviving in the slums as an Ordinary is no simple
task, and Paedyn knows this better than most. Having been trained by her
father to be overly observant since she was a child, Paedyn poses as a
Psychic in the crowded city, blending in with the Elites as best she can
in order to stay alive and out of trouble. Easier said than done.

    When
Paeydn unsuspectingly saves one of Ilyas princes, she finds herself
thrown into the Purging Trials. The brutal competition exists to
showcase the Elites’ powers—the very thing Paedyn lacks. If the Trials
and the opponents within them don’t kill her, the prince she’s fighting
feelings for certainly will if he discovers what she is—completely
    Ordinary.
